Trump Organization Attempted to Hire Almost 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

The former president’s corporate entity increased its hiring of overseas employees on temporary visas this period, even as his government was creating barriers for other businesses wanting to do the same, an analysis released recently claimed.

Based on data from the US Department of Labor, the business sought to bring in at least 184 foreign workers in the coming year for temporary positions at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, two golf clubs and his Virginia winery.

The number of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas for staff including waitstaff, office assistants, cleaning staff, culinary employees and farm workers was the highest ever filed by the company, and up from 121 in the previous term, when Trump’s first term concluded.

It was also the fifth instance in 10 years that the former president had attempted to bring in more than 100 overseas workers for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The revelation comes amid a crackdown on legal immigration by his administration that has involved the implementation of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; extra scrutiny of the actions of the millions of people who possess US visas; and tighter regulations for foreign students and journalists.

In total, the Trump Organization sought to employ over 560 overseas workers over the five years Trump has been in the White House, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Significantly, the former president was criticized by some in the GOP this period for comments defending the necessity for overseas employees when a company was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill certain positions.

“You can’t just say a nation is coming in, going to spend $10bn to build a facility, and going to take people off an jobless roster who have been unemployed in years, and they’re going to start producing their defense systems. It doesn’t work that well,” he stated to a interviewer after she suggested that foreign workers lower the wages of American employees.

The White House refused a inquiry for response, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an request for information.
